73-74 Guilford Street : New administrative facilities
Severely damaged in 1940, 73 Guilford Street represents a missing tooth in this Grade II listed palace front Georgian terrace in Bloomsbury. The proposals will create a ‘Janus’ building, with the Guilford Street façade repairing the fractured palace front through meticulous reference to Georgian principles. The contrasting contemporary rear façade is designed in response to its more practical internal organisation - a strategy that has won planning permission to create administrative facilities for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
