Drake’s Reservoir : Restoration of a historic open space
The renovation and re-opening of the gardens and reservoir to the public forms part of the University of Plymouth’s strategy for integrating its campus with the wider city.
Following the opening of new café facilities overlooking the reservoir, the first phase of the works involved the repair and reinstatement of the historic railings, stonework and entrances. This has allowed the gardens to be brought back into the life of the city and opened up a permeable campus edge. Future phases will involve restoring the reservoir itself and ensuring its accessibility to the public.
