Entrance Lodges : University College London
We have remodelled two lodges at the entrance to UCL on Gower Street to make them more transparent and reveal framed views of the Grade I listed Wilkins Building in the quadrangle beyond. The north lodge has been furnished as a welcome lounge for visiting dignitaries, while the southerly one doubles up as an information point during the day, and a base for out-of-hours security. The traffic barriers have also been withdrawn behind the lodges to ease congestion caused by queueing vehicles – simple designs that have considerably improved the relationship between Gower Street and the main quad.
