A new laboratory block for the Marine Biological Centre has reached completion at their Plymouth campus
Burwell Architects achieved detailed planning consent for the Marine Microbiome Centre of Excellence for the Marine Biological Association in Plymouth in January 2021. Works on the first element of the project, the North Labs, begun in August of the same year. We are very happy to see the facility now opened, and in practical use.
The Marine Microbiome Centre of Excellence will pave the way for new discoveries about ocean health. Located within the historic environs of the Royal Citadel in Plymouth, a scheduled monument that is still occupied by the British Army and Royal Marines, the existing home of the Marine Biological Association is a fine historic building in its own right.
Fundraising continues for the next stages of the project.
